MITHILA — Four people have been killed in an encounter involving the Meghalaya Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad in the East Garo Hills district. The fatal confrontation took place while the joint security team was actively conducting checking operations in the area.
According to available information from the incident, the Meghalaya Police and ATS personnel signalled a suspected vehicle to come to a complete stop during the checking drive. However, the occupants inside the vehicle allegedly opened fire at the on-duty police personnel rather than complying with the signal to stop.
The gunfire directed at the security team resulted in an encounter between the police forces and the vehicle's occupants in East Garo Hills. A total of four individuals were killed in the confrontation with the Meghalaya Police and Anti-Terrorism Squad team.
