Maduro and Flores were seized in Caracas during a United States military operation that was carried out in January. Following their seizure in the city, the pair were placed into detention within the Brooklyn facility, where they continue to be held by United States authorities.
The detention follows allegations of drug trafficking and firearms possession brought against both Maduro and Flores. Both the former president and his wife deny the drug trafficking charges as well as the firearms possession charges leveled against them.
